Data and AI in Zurich.

Database and files are stored in a data centre in Zurich, the AI runs exclusively in Microsoft Azure Switzerland North, and Cleva Accounts runs on our server in Switzerland. This page sets out openly which services we use and where.

Where your data is

Database and files in ZurichCleva Lohn & Faktura, document submission and the employee app store their database, logins and files in a data centre in Zurich.
AI only in Azure Switzerland NorthAll AI models run exclusively in Microsoft Azure, region Switzerland North in Zurich. A document goes to the AI in Zurich to be read, and nowhere else.
Cleva Accounts on our serverCleva Accounts runs on our server in Switzerland, or on your own computer if you prefer. We take care of setup, updates and backups.
Separate accessAccounting firm, company and employees have separate access. Employees only see their own data in the app, and their location is not recorded.
A person approvesCleva proposes and explains. Nothing is finally booked until you approve it.
Clear retention periodsBackups on a rolling basis for at most 90 days, technical logs for at most twelve months. Payroll and accounting records for ten years, as Swiss law requires.

Frequently asked questions about data and security

Is all data stored in Switzerland?

Database, files and AI yes, in Zurich; Cleva Accounts on our server in Switzerland. Exceptions: emails are sent via Resend and may involve the USA, the web application is delivered by Vercel in the EU, and “Pay online” runs via Stripe if you use it.

Is Cleva GDPR-compliant?

Cleva follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and takes the GDPR into account where it applies. Which services we use and where they run is set out openly on this page and in the privacy policy.

Who can see my data?

Only the accounts that you or your accounting firm set up. Accounting firm, company and employees have separate access; employees only see their own data.

What happens to my data after the trial?

Cleva simply continues and is billed from the following month. If you don’t want to continue, a short message is enough and we delete your data.
